You Might be Wearing The Wrong Size Bra

Seven years ago, I lost five dress sizes in about a years time. I achieved this success through dramatic changes in my lifestyle which centered around diet, exercise and a lot of commitment and discipline. (I was single, had the time, money and energy.) After my weight loss, I was at a loss (pun intended) for what my correct bra size was.  So, I dug in and researched until I found some answers.  What I learned is that most often women are wearing a band size that is much too big and a cup size that is much too small.  The average 36 C bra, if you’re wearing that, I would bet money that you’re in the wrong size, even if you swear you are okay because you were fitted by a Victoria’s Secret shop girl. My Childbirth Question

Me, 16 weeks pregnant with my son.

I saw a shoulder dystocia.  A really, really scary and incredibly severe one.  It was early in my current pregnancy when I attended this birth and watching it unfold before me, calling 911 for emergent transfer, and breathing the thank-god-sigh-relief everyone is okay but I’ll never be the same again, scared the hell out of me.  For HIPAA reasons I cannot disclose further details, though I will say mom and baby ended up okay thanks to some savvy moves of two very quick thinking and talented CNMs. After the birth I went home and cried and wondered if I had what it takes to work in this field. As I spend time thinking about what my second labor will look like, I’m reflecting a lot on my first one.  I was nine days past due, my labor was ten hours, start to finish.  Zoe was OP – which gave me a good dose of back labor  (I had bruises the next day from all the counter pressure I asked my husband to apply to my back with a rolling-pin.)  I pushed for 27 minutes and my daughter graced me with a compound presentation that gave me a second degree tear on my labia.  Nice, huh.  And yes, I just said “my labia” on the world-wide inter-webs.
