I am Joy, a happily married mother of two waterbirthed babies. I am a doula and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, who worked as a midwife's assistant at a freestanding birth center in TX. As of 2015, I'm a full-time nursing student who teaches childbirth classes at Park Ridge Health, The Baby Place, in Hendersonville, NC. I love serving laboring moms and I enjoy teaching birth education. I use this blog to write about it all - my life, my children, and my passion of all things childbirth.

Greetings, I am just starting my midwifery Homebirth service in northern California and am building a weebly website. I have over 220 births as a primary midwife but I lost all my birth photos due to a leaky storage unit we rented. It destroyed a lot of precious belongings. I am a hopeful future midwife (currently in nursing school) and I recently came across your blog and wow, I just love it!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate strangers about midwifery and birth. I especially loved how you have included how to support women in who are giving birth in a hospital setting, and your posts about the different stages of labor. Keep up the amazing work, the time you spend blogging is so appreciated! I would love to see a future post about how midwives and doulas interact during a homebirth setting, or a post on water a water birth is like from a midwives standpoint (how they interact with the mother, and check on her labor). Anywho love this blog!!!
