The Birth Interview Project | Michelle’s First Birth Center Birth

Hi! I am Michelle, mother of Laurel who is currently my only child. Although we are expecting another one at the end of May! My birth experience empowered me so much that I became a doula and currently I am a birth assistant at a local birth center.

What was your due date, and what was your baby’s birth date?

Due date: July 4th. Birth Date: June 27th

What is your baby’s name, and what was their weight and length?

Laurel Katharine,  8lbs 9oz and 18.5 inches long.

Please give a brief description of yourself, and what number baby/birth you’re sharing with us.

I’m Kelly, 30 years old.  Mom to Ravi and Maya, wife to Shashi.  I’m interested in women’s health issues and minored in women’s studies in college.  Since the birth of my son three years ago, I have become passionate about breastfeeding and became a leader for La Leche League.  I’m writing about the birth of my second child, Maya.

What was your due date, and what was your baby’s birth date?

My due date was October 17, 2011, and Maya was born October 17, 2011!  I was shocked to have a baby born on her due date!

What was Maya’s weight and length?

Maya Kumari weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 21 inches long at birth.

My name is Emily. I am 28 years old (was 27 when my baby was born), and this was my first birth. My husband Chris and I live in central CT.

I was due on March 29, 2011, but Benjamin was born March 18, 2011 (11 days early).

What was your baby’s name, weight and length?

Benjamin James, 6 lbs. 14 oz., 20.5 inches

The Birth Interview Project | Sara’s Attempted Homebirth w/Hospital Transfer

Please give a brief description of yourself, and what number baby/birth you’re sharing with us.  

I am Sara, 32 years old, married for 5 years and a stay at home mom going back to school for lactation consulting.  This is our second baby, the first was born in the hospital, this one was an attempted homebirth.

What was your due date, and what was your baby’s birth date?  

The first due date given by my OB was March 23rd, they later changed it to March 30th.  When I switched to my midwife we decided that March 27th was my EDD.  Max came into the world March 27, 2011 at 1:54 AM.
