This image was born out of the advice a friend gave me. Her words made so much sense and have since echoed in my heart. I sat down one day and found a stock image of a crying baby and placed my friend’s advice next to it. Little did I know that this quote would have such a profound affect on so many others, but I’m so happy to see that it resonates in not only my heart, but yours as well. We all need extra love and understanding, especially our children.

I am Joy, a happily married mother of two waterbirthed babies. I am a doula and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, who worked as a midwife's assistant at a freestanding birth center in TX. As of 2015, I'm a full-time nursing student who teaches childbirth classes at Park Ridge Health, The Baby Place, in Hendersonville, NC. I love serving laboring moms and I enjoy teaching birth education. I use this blog to write about it all - my life, my children, and my passion of all things childbirth.

Saw this shared on FB by a foodie friend and recognized your URL . . . LOVE this! My son is 19 months old now and only says a few words. He’s brilliant when it comes to mechanical-type stuff, but language is still something he’s sorting out and he gets frustrated pretty easy when we don’t understand. I recently got “the talk” from a concerned loved one about the huge fuss he makes when he feels unheard . . . boy do I wish I’d had this simple phrase instead of the HUGE overexplanation thingy I threw out instead!
I just love this picture and meaningful text.
Hi, I’m writing a post about my son and his temper tantrums. I thought of your photo as I wrote it (I have seen it so many times doing the rounds and have shared it myself on FB) and I was wondering if you would give me permission to use it in my post – Obviously with a link back and ref to your blog. It would feature as part of the Sunday Parenting Party this weekend. Could you please contact me on Tamingthegoblin [at] gmail [dot] com if it would be OK. Many thanks
