On March 10th, 11th and 12th I attended a Lamaze Childbirth Educator Training Seminar. I was joined by my funny, beautiful and amazingly talented doula friend, Michelle, as well as several lactation consultants, doulas, childbirth educators (who desire to become certified through Lamaze) and labor and delivery nurses. We learned scads of evidence based research on childbirth. We also gained insightful teaching methods. I will sit for my LCCE exam on April 26th, supposing I’m not in labor or directly postpartum. So, I’ve got some studying to do. In the meantime here are pictures from our weekend.
I am Joy, a happily married mother of two waterbirthed babies. I am a doula and a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, who worked as a midwife's assistant at a freestanding birth center in TX. As of 2015, I'm a full-time nursing student who teaches childbirth classes at Park Ridge Health, The Baby Place, in Hendersonville, NC. I love serving laboring moms and I enjoy teaching birth education. I use this blog to write about it all - my life, my children, and my passion of all things childbirth.
